Usually the hike around the cordillera Huayhuash begins in the city of Chiquian (3,400 m.) 111 km. south of Huaraz . This little known route is one of the most beautiful and impressive. It winds through such spectacular mountains as Yerupaja 6,634m. the second highest in the Peruvian Andes , Jirishanca , Siula grande , Rondoy , Ninashanca and Rasac . This trail passes incomparably breath-taking lakes of crystalline water and tiny villages seeming out of touch with the rest of the world a wonderful recompense for those willing to venture of these paths

Day 01: Acclimatization day tour ( visit churup Lake at 4,450m.)
After our breakfast we will go with a private car to pitec place from here we climb up to churup lake aprox. 3 to 4 hours then return to pitec huaraz – hotel

Day 02: Huaraz 3.090m. – Llamac – Cuartelhuain 4,100m.
After breakfast in hotel , our guide will pick up you then drive to the village of chiquian , llamac and finally cuartelhuain our first camp at 4,100m. 6 to 7 hours drive . place where our donkey driver will be waiting for us and ready for next day

Day 03: Cuartelhuain – Cacanan pass 4,700m. – Mitucocha
In the morning we climb up to our first pass Punta Cacanan (4700m) then descend to our camp at the beautiful lake Laguna Mitucocha (4150m). 6 hours. From our camp we have close views of the huge peaks Ronday, Jirishanca, Ninashanca

Day 04: Mitucocha – Carhuac pass – Carhuacocha 4,250m.
We climb up to pass Paso de Carhuac (4650m) then descend to our camp at the big lake Laguna Carhuacocha (4250m) 6 hours. From our camp we look directly up the lake to the peaks and ice fields of Siula and the two peaks of Yerupajá.

If the weather is good and you are feeling strong, we can take an alternative and more demanding route via a 4800m pass, with great close views of Jirishanca Chica and passing by a beautiful deep blue high lake. There is not a track to follow on the alternative route and there is a short section of rock scrambling, so we only use this route for very fit and experienced trekkers.

Day 05: Carhuacocha – Carnicero Pass 4.600m- Huayhuash
We climb up to pass Carnicero (4600m) which is not difficult, an make an easy descent to camp either at isolated Laguna Carnicero 4300m (also called Juraucocha) or 30 minutes walk further on to another camp in the open valley of Huayhuash (4250m) . 5 to 6 hours

Weather permitting, we can take an alternative more demanding route which climbs to a 4800m pass, crossing above the glacier fed lakes of Siula and Quesillococha. The views of the mountains and glaciers from here are very close and spectacular, and often we see ice floating in the lakes coming from avalanches off the glaciers. 7 to 8 hours

Day 06: Huayhuash – Portachuelo pass 4,650m. – Viconga 4,300m
We climb climb up pass Portachuelo (4,650m) from where you look across to the Cordillera Raura and the snow topped peak Leon Huacanan. We skirt around the large lake Laguna Viconga before walking up the valley ½ hour to set up camp (4300m) 6½ hours. There are some hot springs near Viconga.

Day 07: Viconga –cuyoc pass 5,000m. – Huanacpatay 4,150m.
After our breakfast we going to climb up for 3 hours to cuyoc pass at 5,000m. the highest pass in the huayhuash trekking. On this pass we will see the cordillera raura and the mountains of the cordillera huayhuash as pumarinry cuyoc jurao etc. After we go down for 1 hour to san Antonio camp.

Day 08: Huanacpatay – Huayllapa – Huatiac 4,250m
We follow the Huanacpatay valley before to huayllapa village . We going to climb up steadily in the afternoon from 2 to 2 ½ hours to our campsite at the top of the flat prairie Huatiac (4250) 6 hours

Day 09: Huatiac – Tapush pass 4,800m- yaucha pass 4,800m.- Jahuacocha 4,100m.
After the our breakfast we will climb up to Punta Tapush pas 4800m, then pass by Laguna Susucocha we go down for 1 hour .after we going to climb up to yaucha pass at 4,800m. After we will down to jahuacocha camp at 4,100m.

Day 10: Jahuacocha rest day or visit to cerro amarrillo
This day we will have rest day , the people who want to go to cerro amarrillo we going to leave after the breakfast the cerro amarrillo top we can see almost all mountains of the cordillera huayhuash after return to jahuacocha cam aprox. 6 hours . the people who want stay in camp they can be in camp all day as relax.

Day 11: Jahuacocha – pampa llamac pass 4,300m. – llamac – Huaraz
We leave early, starting with a gradual climb to our final pass Pampa Llamac (4300m) from where we have our final views of the Huayhuash range. Then it is a long descent back to Llamac. 5 ½ hours. In Llamac the bus will be waiting to take us back to Huaraz for hot showers!! Hotel.
